If a tooth cannot be saved with restorative materials such as fillings or crowns, our oral surgeons may need to remove the tooth to prevent infection, maintain oral health, or prepare for dental implant placement.
If you need to have a tooth extracted, call our office in Lubbock, TX, or Hobbs, NM, to schedule a consultation.

Depending on the complexity of the extraction, your surgeon will use local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia to increase patient comfort during and after the procedure. During the procedure, the tooth is then gently loosened and removed.
Immediately after the tooth is removed, gauze pads are placed in the patient's mouth for the patient to bite down on to apply pressure to the socket. Once the tooth has been removed, your surgeon may place dissolvable and/or traditional stitches that may need to be removed at a follow-up appointment.
